Cylindrical Cells for Industrial and OEM Applications

Lithium cylindrical cells, commonly referred to as Lithium Ion cells, are one of several cell formats offered by VPW and are an economical choice for those seeking low cost lithium cells. As one of the most widely used packaging styles for lithium cells, this format has excellent reliability records and offers one of the lowest costs per watt-hour of all lithium cell formats.

An increased level of safety is achieved through use of an outer housing, which can withstand high internal pressures without deforming. Most of today’s cylindrical cells also feature a pressure relief mechanism or membrane seal that ruptures under high pressure mitigating safety hazards.

With high specific energy, excellent mechanical stability and long calendar life, cylindrical cells lend themselves well to portable applications including power tools, medical instruments and e-bikes. While the most common cell size is 18650, the lithium ion cylindrical cell is available in a wide array of sizes including 14500, 26650 and 32650 to name a few.

In addition to a multitude of cell sizes, VPW offers cylindrical cells in a wide range of derivatives to address specific and unique performance requirements including specific energy, specific power, safety, performance, lifespan and cost.
